In the 9th round of the “Shahid Ahmadi Roshan” initiative, organized by the National Elites Foundation of Iran, a research project by Dr. Reza Abazari, faculty member of the Department of Chemistry at Maragheh University, has been selected as one of the outstanding proposals. The project is titled “Hydrogen and Energy Production through the Elimination of Environmental Pollutants.”
According to the University’s Office of Research and Technology, Dr. Abazari provided details about the project, explaining:
“Hydrogen, as a clean fuel, has a wide range of applications—for instance, in commercial transportation, short-range aviation, and shipping—especially where a greater amount of energy is needed by weight and volume compared to lithium-ion batteries. It can be combusted similarly to gasoline or used in fuel cells to generate electricity.”
He added, “This project appears to offer the most effective method for stationary energy storage proposed so far, in which hydrogen can function much like a rechargeable battery.”
After evaluation of the researcher’s credentials and project priorities, the proposal was officially selected by the National Elites Foundation as part of the current cycle of the Shahid Ahmadi Roshan program.
Among the key benefits of the initiative are the mandatory involvement of students at various academic levels, the preparation of students for applied research and real-world problem-solving post-graduation, and the provision of financial support to participating students over a nine-month period.
Dr. Abazari invited interested students to express their willingness to join the project by registering via the SINA system of the National Elites Foundation.
